Research Core

The specific aims of the Research core are:

  • To provide expertise to affiliated scientists in the development of applied community-based research projects to explore cultural, behavioral, physiological and economic factors associated with nutritional health disparities among Latinos.
  • To provide expertise in quantitative methods and biostatistics.
  • To provide expertise in qualitative and ethnographic methods.
  • To develop and disseminate innovative research methods to explore Latino nutritional health disparities.
  • To foster the development of creative, culturally competent and effective interventions to reduce Latino health disparities.
  • To strengthen the collaborative relationship uniting health disparities researchers at the University of Connecticut, Hispanic Health Council, and Hartford Hospital.
  • To build a state, national, and international coalitions of health disparities researchers focused on Latino health and nutrition issues.
