The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and six other components of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) today announced contracts totaling $61 million over 6 ½ years to conduct the largest long-term epidemiological study of health and disease in Latin American populations living in the United States. CEHDL sponsored the "Diabetes Community Forum" at the Learning Corridor in the heart of the Latino community of Hartford.  Sixty-five participants shared their experiences with diabetes in a community speak out session, receive screenings, and attended diabetes educational workshops.

Dear CEHDL colleagues, See the press release on successful passage of a much needed school nutrition legislation… It has major implications for addressing health disparities among children in our State. Congrats to EHC! and all involved with this major success.

Each month, CEHDL will select a paper of major relevance to the field of Latino health disparities and disseminate it to all our affiliates. Her seminar title is "The Latino Mortality Paradox Revisited: Is acculturation bad for your health?". The seminar will be held at the CHIP conference room on Friday, March 24th from 12:30 to 1:30
