Dr. Marysol Asencio M.P.H., Dr.P.H. Columbia University. Associate Professor (joint appointment) Puerto Rican and Latino Studies and Human Development and Family Studies. Areas of interest include; sexualities/sexual health, race/ethnicity, gender, and social inequities/human rights. She is on the the international editorial board of Sexuality Research and Social Policy. She was a 2003 Social Science Research Council (SSRC)-Sexuality Research Postdoctoral Fellow. Recent publications include her book, Sex and Sexuality among New York’s Puerto Rican Youth, as well as articles and chapters on Latina/os and/or sexuality such as "Machos and Sluts: Gender, Sexuality and Violence Among a Cohort of Puerto Rican Adolescents" (Medical Anthropology Quarterly). She is currently editing a volume on Latina/o sexualities research and scholarship in the United States to be published in 2010 by Rutgers Press. She is also in the process of collecting data for a collaborative project on prostate health, sexuality, and gay men.
